Growing up in a dysfunctional environment, Shay learned at an early age what it meant and felt like to be abandoned and left behind. As a teenager, Shay faced what seemed to be insurmountable challenges that impacted her academics and social life. Striving for good grades and some income, she found herself working to survive, while still in high school. As a result, Shay developed a strong work ethic and a desire to succeed in making a difference in her life. Shay married her husband Jay in 2010. While raising her children, she became aware of her natural ability to support and encourage other women and began helping others in the midst of their struggles. She realized that this was her passion, even her life’s purpose, and that’s when the idea that “no woman should be left behind”--something that she had fought against for most of her life. Shay’s journey had prepared her! Currently Shay is on the Praise and Worship Team at Encouragement Church in Lake Elsinore, where her family actively serve. She currently serves on Head Start Policy Council as the Community Representative in the Lake Elsinore area, the Railroad Canyon Elementary School Site Council and their PTA. Shay is currently furthering her education at Cal Baptist University, for her undergraduate degree in Public Administration. Shay’s passion for Leave No Woman Behind (LNWB) is shared with many other women across California. Through the power of sisterhood, love, and community, LNWB is and will continue to be a viable resource for all women and their families.
